The ACT Law Society announces new President

The ACT Law Society’s Council yesterday appointed Lisa Quilty to the role of President, following the resignation of Tim Dingwall from the role due to personal circumstances which he considered prevented him from continuing in the role.

The Council has appointed Lisa to fill the casual vacancy as President until the next AGM, in accordance with the Society’s constitution. Lisa previously held the position of Vice President of the Society’s Council, having been elected at the 2023 annual general meeting. Lisa is a partner at Mills Oakley working predominantly in the areas of insurance litigation and dispute resolution, acting for both government and private clients in several legal areas. She is passionate about fostering a culture that embraces diversity, equality, flexibility and inclusion.

Lisa said, “I appreciate the confidence the Council has shown in appointing me to serve as President for the remainder of the current term and I look forward to supporting the important work of the Society in the role of President.”

The Council congratulated Lisa on her appointment and expressed its thanks to Tim for his leadership of the Council and Executive Committee in his time as President.
