About the role

The Database Administrator & IT Support person plays a key role in managing the Society’s database, working with members and Society staff. The role provides troubleshooting assistance and is responsible for ensuring database records are correct and liaises with key internal and external stakeholders.

Initially expected to be a part-time role of approximately 21 hours per week, there is some flexibility as to the days and times a person would work, within the usual business hours of the office. The position may convert to full-time in the future.

Main duties/responsibilities of position

  • Engage with Society members to provide technical advice and assistance and make recommendations based on requirements
  • Address customer support requests with accurate and timely advice and follow up to ensure timely and satisfactory resolution
  • Trouble-shoot database incidents, identify causes, resolve and document issues and discuss preventative measures
  • Maintain and update individual member records and workplace records, including entering of historical data to enable storage of electronic records
  • Provide administrative support to the Finance & Business Services Manager
  • Maintain database workflows, including preparation of the annual renewal processes
  • Assist the FBSM with IT projects and liaise with the Society’s IT support teams
  • Prepare guidance materials and other information resources
  • Perform other duties as directed and necessary in a small team and for the proper performance of the role

Skills, experience & personal qualities

  • Experience and/or qualification in ICT/Database systems
  • Good analytical/trouble-shooting skills with the ability to address user requirements
  • Excellent communication skills
  • High level of initiative and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with members and the Society’s IT support teams
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision

  • Demonstrate initiative by constantly maintaining member records and merging duplicate records and updating historical membership data
  • Respond to enquiries in a timely manner to ensure a strong relationship is maintained with members
