The Australian Lawyers Alliance (ALA) presents its annual ACT Conference with analysis of a range of current legal issues for legal professionals working in plaintiff and personal injury law in the ACT.

Hear from expert speakers across this full day of learning, development and networking. This year’s CPD program includes presentations on ethics, medical negligence claims, abuse, estate claims, working with witnesses and more.

The conference will draw speakers and panellists from throughout Australia and New Zealand. The sessions will include an overview of the process in relation to cases involving sexual assault and will focus on:

  • an understanding of national consent laws from perspectives in different jurisdictions;
  • the trial process;
  • trauma neurobiological impacts of sexual violence and myths and misconceptions; and
  • criminological, psychological and social perspectives.

There will also be sessions which focus on issues impacting population groups which are overrepresented in sexual violence statistics; and vicarious trauma, including the well-being of those involved in sexual assault matters.

The YCLA welcome Gregory Vijayendran SC, the CLA’s Council Member for Singapore and Fellow at the Singapore Institute of Arbitrator to present a 60 minute Webinar on “To Court or Not? The Case for Arbitration” with Maximillian Taylor, the YCLA’s Lawyer in Training, England & Wales representative moderating.
