Appointment of Di Simpson as FCFCOA judge
The ACT Law Society welcomes the appointment of Di Simpson as a Judge of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 1).
ACT Law Society President Rob Reis congratulated Justice Simpson on her appointment and expressed his personal gratitude for her long service to the Society’s Family Law Committee.
“Di has dedicated years to the cause of better law for the Territory, most notably family law, as well as fostering and supporting our strong traditions of collegiality which help bind the ACT’s legal community together.”
Her colleagues on the Family Law Committee echoed Mr Reis’ sentiments.
“On behalf of the family law community in Canberra, we extend our warmest congratulations to Justice Simpson. Her Honour has been a leader in our community for many years. She is well known for her advocacy skills in the courtroom and as a member of the ACT Law Society Family Law Committee and Family Law Section Executive of the Law Council of Australia. Her appointment to the bench therefore comes as no surprise.
We look forward to appearing before her Honour and wish her the best.”
Ms Simpson joined the Society’s Family Law Committee in October 2012, and was appointed Chair in January 2015, continuing in this capacity for several years.
